🎵 Workshops

Forró Percussion

This workshop is open to all levels and invites participants to dive deep into the world of forró. Explore the essential rhythms that define styles like xote, baião, and xaxado, uncovering their core “DNA” and discovering new ways to listen and connect with the music. You’ll have the chance to play instruments such as triangle, zabumba, ganzá, pandeiro, and agogô, experiencing the creation of live music. Instruments will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own if they have them. Through this immersive experience, the relationship between rhythm, movement, and personal expression naturally comes to life, offering a fresh perspective on how forró is both heard and felt.

Samba de Gafieira

Samba de Gafieira is a lively Brazilian partner dance that originated in Rio de Janeiro. It blends playful energy with elegant technique and fluid movement, all set to the rhythm of samba music.

In this beginner-focused class, you’ll learn how to connect with your partner, make the most out of the basic steps, and move confidently to the music. No previous samba de gafieira experience needed. Just bring your curiosity and come ready to have fun. Our goal is to work on concepts that could also be applied to other dances.

This class is taught by Renata Szlachta and Matheus Magrin, teachers from the Coletivo Gafieira Amsterdam.

Brazilian Funk

Fatou is a passionate dancer and teacher with over five years of experience in urban dance, blending it with the energy of Brazilian Funk. As part of the Baile Project Teacher Program, she creates inclusive and joyful dance experiences for all levels and ages, enriched with Afro dance influences. Her DJ set will bring irresistible beats and uplifting vibes to the dance floor.

Toque de Rebú Toque de Rebú is a brand-new forró group based in Amsterdam, bringing together Brazilian and international musicians to celebrate the richness of Northeastern Brazilian rhythms. With arrangements that blend tradition and a fresh touch, the quartet delivers the contagious energy of Forró, creating the perfect atmosphere for dancing and singing along. The band features Jennifer Vidal (vocals), Pietro Aloi (piano), Pedro Ivo (bass), and Wagner Vasconcelos (drums). Their repertoire includes Brazilian classics such as Asa Branca (Luiz Gonzaga), Cajuína (Caetano Veloso), and Esperando na Janela (Gilberto Gil). Expect a vibrant performance full of swing, joy, and interaction — a true celebration of Brazilian culture in the heart of Amsterdam.

DJ Matheus Bringing the authentic energy of samba and forró, DJ Matheus sets the tone for a night of dance and celebration. DJ Hud With over 3 years heating Amsterdam’s hottest dancefloors, DJ Hud delivers the best Brazilian funk and booty beats built to make the crowd sweat.
